Job Description

Build a career where meaningful patient care, visible leadership, technology-enabled workflows, professional growth, and the quality of life found in northern Maine come together in one standout Urology Physician Assistant opportunity for 2026.

This Urology Physician Assistant will join a mission-focused healthcare organization where advanced practice providers can make a visible impact while benefiting from the collaboration and accessibility of a community hospital setting. The hospital’s integrated approach supports coordinated care, efficient communication, and close professional relationships across physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, pharmacy, laboratory, imaging, case management, and other clinical services. Modern clinical tools and streamlined workflows are used to support—not replace—sound clinical judgment, giving the Physician Assistant in Urology the autonomy and resources to deliver safe, responsive, patient-centered care.

Within Urology, the Physician Assistant will practice at a 25-bed acute care and Critical Access Hospital located in northern Maine that serves as a primary healthcare provider and integrated health system for the region. This setting offers the Urology Physician Assistant meaningful specialty exposure, close continuity with patients, and the opportunity to strengthen access to urologic care in a community where advanced practice expertise is highly valued. The department’s connection to diagnostic, procedural, inpatient, and follow-up services creates a professionally rewarding environment for an APP who wants broad responsibility, stronger patient relationships, and an active role in advancing the urology service line.

The Urology Physician Assistant will work within the hospital’s established clinical leadership and medical staff structure, collaborating closely with urology providers and the broader interdisciplinary team. Day-to-day responsibilities may include comprehensive histories and examinations, diagnostic evaluation, development and coordination of treatment plans, medication management, patient education, procedural or perioperative support within approved privileges, follow-up care, clinical documentation, and timely consultation with physicians and other specialists. Nurses, imaging professionals, laboratory teams, pharmacists, technicians, and care coordinators help move each plan forward, enabling the Physician Assistant in Urology to focus on informed decisions, safe transitions, and a consistently strong patient experience.

For an experienced Urology Physician Assistant, this position represents more than another hospital job—it offers room to deepen specialty knowledge, contribute to quality improvement, optimize clinical workflows, educate patients and colleagues, and help shape care delivery in a smaller health system where initiative is noticed. The ideal Physician Assistant Urology candidate will bring appropriate PA certification, Maine licensure or eligibility, strong clinical judgment, and a collaborative approach; relevant urology, surgical, procedural, or advanced practice experience will support success. Opportunities for continuing education, mentorship, committee participation, precepting, specialty development, and future clinical leadership can be explored as part of an individualized career conversation.

A Urology Physician Assistant career in northeastern Maine offers a distinctive balance of professional purpose and everyday breathing room. The region is known for forests, lakes, rivers, coastal landscapes, uncrowded trails, boating, fishing, hiking, winter recreation, and close-knit communities where healthcare professionals quickly understand the value of their work. Local traditions and events such as the annual Wild Blueberry Festival add authentic community character, while lighter traffic and short local commutes can make daily life feel more manageable. Candidates should also appreciate the realities of a rural northern climate and greater travel distances for some amenities, tradeoffs that many find worthwhile for access to nature, community connection, and a quieter pace.

For advanced practice providers exploring urology jobs, hospital careers, medical center jobs, or healthcare professional opportunities in northeastern Maine, this position delivers a compelling combination of clinical breadth, autonomy, collaboration, and community impact.

  • The hospital offers the Urology Physician Assistant competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, with full details regarding health coverage, paid time off, retirement options, professional development support, and any role-specific incentives shared during the recruitment process.
